Customarily, campaigns on FULL FABRIC are used to send mass marketing communications for advertisement purposes, and in GDPR times one should tread carefully when it comes to mass communications. But what if you just need to send a quick non-marketing notice to a group of people with a similar profile and one-to-one e-mails don't quite cut it because they're laborious?
With that in mind, we created a setting through which you can reclaim the convenience of campaigns, seeing as they permit to build an audience segment in a matter of seconds, and define whether the campaign is marketing-oriented or not. This will directly decide who's going to receive your campaign.
How to determine the nature of a marketing campaign
This feature is pretty straightforward to use, here’s how it works:
Create or enter a campaign, then navigate to the Audience tab.
In the first section, Select the necessary agreement according to the campaign’s objective and content, you’ll find a dropdown labeled Necessary Agreement
This dropdown includes all the policies configured in your Full Fabric instance. Simply select the policy that best matches the purpose and content of your campaign.
If you choose a specific policy, only profiles who have agreed to that policy will be included in your audience.
If you choose “no agreement necessary,” then everyone gets the message — even those who haven’t agreed to any policy at all. This option is typically used for non-marketing emails that are essential for all recipients.
You can also refine things further by selecting a specific TOPIC within the chosen policy (if applicable). This ensures that even users who agreed to the overall policy but not to that particular topic are excluded — precision is key! 🤌
Once you’ve defined your audience based on the desired agreement, you’re free to apply additional segmentation rules as needed. And if you decide to change the Necessary Agreement later on, don’t worry — the audience list will automatically update to reflect your new selection.
Not so fast... What about the unsubscribe link?
Ah, the unsubscribe link... A legal must and a moral courtesy. If you’re using a policy-based audience, you might be wondering: “Do I need to manually add an unsubscribe link to my email footer?"
Fear not, my friend, we’ve got you covered! ☔
As soon as you select a policy, you may notice a small note that appears right below:
“This is a campaign which contains non-essential information for recipients. The email will contain an unsubscribe link.”
And just like that, the system will automatically insert a footer widget with the unsubscribe link, giving recipients the option to opt out if they so wish. Magic! ✨
Naturally, if you selected “no agreement necessary,” the unsubscribe link won’t be included — since the campaign is meant for everyone, and no policy-based consent is required.
That's all! Use this feature wisely and you shall be rewarded! 😉
