Marketing communication gets a bad reputation, in no small part because people hate irrelevant content. If you want to keep your audience's attention, you must send them content that they actually want to receive. πŸ’Œ As a result, we introduced the ability to categorize email campaigns by topic and let users choose which topics they want to hear about in the future. 😍

What are marketing topics and what are they used for?

In Full Fabric, marketing topics are thematic labels such as "Jobs" and "Newsletter" that reflect the content of an email and serve to classify a school's marketing emails in a logical manner. 🏷

Therefore, when topics are enabled, there's an additional dropdown menu in the marketing settings of a campaign where you're required to select the topic that most closely matches the content of that campaign:

You must select a topic – and just one topic – before you can send the campaign. The campaign will then be sent to only those users who have agreed to receive marketing communications via email and are subscribed to that particular topic.

How can users subscribe to or unsubscribe from topics?

Profiles are automatically subscribed to every topic by default upon consenting to receive marketing emails, including profiles that already existed in the system prior to the introduction of marketing topics. 😎

Unsubscribing from a topic, on the other hand, is accomplished through a campaign email for that topic, where a separate link exists for that very purpose:

When someone clicks Unsubscribe from ________ topic, they're redirected to the below page:

And if they press Yes, unsubscribe, a confirmation message is displayed specifying which topic was just unsubscribed:

This way, only that campaign's topic is unsubscribed, not any others, and the marketing agreement remains in effect. πŸ˜ƒ
