Class imports: creating classes in bulk

Learn how to use the class import tool to save time and create multiple classes at once

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Have you ever created or updated many classes one by one? It's time consuming and painful. When managing programmes and classes at scale, you can save significant time by creating or updating them in bulk using a CSV import. This feature allows you to upload multiple classes at once instead of creating them individually. ๐Ÿ’พ

How can class imports help you?

  • Create multiple classes at once, much faster than manual entry

  • Update existing programmes and classes in bulk

  • Populate class settings and fields individually per class, all within the same file

Accessing the import tool

To begin the bulk import process:

  1. Click the gear icon in the top-right corner to open General settings.

  2. Navigate to the Institution tab.

  3. Click the vertical three-dot ( โ‹ฎ ) button on the right-hand side.

  4. Select Import programmes and classes from a file.

Downloading the import template

The import process starts with a ready-made CSV template.

  1. In the import screen, click Download Import Template (bottom-left corner).

  2. Open the template using Microsoft Excel (or another spreadsheet editor).

  3. Fill in all required columns with your programme and class data.

You can skip this step if your CSV template is already prepared!

Completing the import process

Once your file is ready, follow the import stages in the platform:

  1. File Upload โ€“ Upload your completed CSV file.

  2. Mapping โ€“ Match the columns in your file to the platform fields.

  3. Summary โ€“ Review the detected changes before confirming.

  4. Report โ€“ Check the final results and confirm what was created or updated.

Important tips to consider

Before uploading your CSV, always validate:

  • The file structure matches the template

  • Identifiers are correct

  • Data is consistent

This helps prevent duplicate entries or unintended updates.
