Build and customise your own Dashboards

Learn how to create personalized dashboards in Full Fabric to better understand and analyze your data

Custom Dashboards allow you to build reports tailored to your institution's specific needs, helping you quickly access and analyze the data that matters most. Instead of relying on predefined reports, you can choose the information you want to include, apply widgets and filters to narrow your results, group and sort data, and customize how it's displayed. Whether you're tracking applications, monitoring admissions, or analyzing student data, these dashboards provide a flexible way to gain valuable insights and support data-driven decision-making. šŸ“Š

How to create a custom Dashboard

To create your own custom dashboard based on your needs, follow these steps:

  • Go to Analytics - Dashboards (on the left main menu of Full Fabric)

  • At the top right, click on Create Dashboard:

  • Give it a name, and press Add dasboard:

Now your dashboard is created, although empty of course. But fear nothing, the next topic will demonstrate how to add content to it!

Tailor and personalise your Dashboard

The customisation of your dashboard is done by widgets. You can add as many widgets you need and tailor them to obtain the necessary data:

  • Click on Add a new widget, at the top right (please see the screenshot above).

  • Start by giving it a name.

  • Pick the Widget type: it can either be from your data or stock widget. They way the data is gathered and managed is different between them:

    • From your data: the widget will display data that is stored in Full Fabric. Depending if you choose Applications, Profiles, Forms or Lifecycle on the dataset label, the metrics and other customisation settings that come afterwards vary based on that choice of context:

    • Stock widget: it's a predifined and not customisable widget that fetches and displays data automatically (upcoming events and upcoming/overdue tasks)

  • As you build your widget, you can see it taking shape on the left side in real-time:

  • Once you're happy with it, simply click on Add widget, in the low right corner:

  • The system will take you back to the Dashboard overview, and you'll see your widget in there. Now you can add some more if you like!

Managing the dashboard and its widgets

Adding a widget to your dashboard isn't an 'end' in itself. There's a lot more you can do with it to make the most of its data and to manage it further and beyond.

Lets cover everything you can do on existing widgets in the dashboard:

  • Start date and End date: define the data range you desire for your dashboard. This range is automatically applied to all data widgets:

  • Data aggregation: the data can be aggregated daily, weeky or monthly:

  • Hovering the mouse inside a widget it will give you data insights:

  • On the top left, next to the widget name, press and hold the button to drag and drop. If you have multiple widgets, reposition them as you find more convenient:

  • On the top right corner of a widget there are four tools:

  1. Table view: switch the widget data display from a graph to a table:

  2. Legends/Details: enables the data legends at the bottom of the widget:

3. Segment builder: allows you to add segmentation rules to customise the data:

4. Lastly, the vertical ellipsis icon is to Copy data, edit widget and delete widget:

  • To recap, the top right corner of the Dashboard gives you additional options. You can add a new widget (as already explained above), duplicate it or delete. But the star of this show is the Pin to homepage option

If a Dashboard is pinned to the homepage, when you log in Full Fabric it will be displayed directly in your Home area, and it will be the first thing you see!
