Do you have an application form that you'd like to name "registration" instead of "application"? Maybe because you offer short courses – like executive courses – available on a pay-per-entry basis, where applicants just have to fill out a simple form? Or because you'd like to request of applicants that once they're accepted into a programme they complete an enrolment form of sorts to formalise the admission?

There are situations in which application forms serve different purposes, and so it makes sense to distinguish them. Thinking of this, we introduced the ability to use the name "registration form" and thus make a clear distinction between registrations and applications on the portal! 😃

What’s the difference between a registration and an application?

Registration forms are application forms, the only difference is the name – so if you have a form that you'd like to call a registration form because its' somehow different in nature (e.g., to signal non-degree granting courses like exec programmes), go ahead and do it. Certain languages pose an impediment to lumping different types of applications together – like German, in which "application" and "registration" have a different legal meaning –, so adopting registration forms improves perception and accuracy. 👌

How do I create a registration template?

Begin by creating a new application template as you normally would, but then look for this setting inside the Details tab:

Enable the Registration label to inform the system that this is specifically a registration template and should be treated as such (chiefly to get into the right widgets). You mustn't skip this setting because Application is default.

Everything else is the same! 😁

TIP: In keeping with the way FULL FABRIC is built, all institution-level templates are indiscriminately grouped under Application templates in General settings. A best practice tip would be to name your application and registration templates carefully in a way that easily tells them apart.

How can I display registration forms on the portal?

With the knowledge that you can create registration templates and the how-to, naturally you also need a way to actually make them available to prospects and applicants. In view of this, we created two brand new widgets to be added to the pages of your portal: Registrations and My Registrations.

Hence, when you enter Apps > Portal and click to edit an existing page or Create a new page, now you'll have the aforementioned counterparts to Applications and My Applications, as shown below:

Registrations lets you pick which registration forms should be up for candidacy, whereas My Registrations permits applicants to see their entire history of started and submitted registrations, as you can observe underneath:
