Overview

Google Tag Manager (GTM) integration allows you to track candidate activities across your Full Fabric platform, primarily focusing on application processes (starting, submitting, and related e-commerce data), with additional tracking available for form and event landing pages. This integration enables seamless data collection for Google Analytics and other marketing tools without requiring code changes to your website.

What Can Be Tracked

Once GTM is integrated with Full Fabric, you can track the following activities:

  • Page views across all Full Fabric pages

  • Application events (started and submitted applications)

  • User authentication (profile logins)

  • Payment transactions

  • Form and event landing page visits and submissions

  • E-commerce data for application submissions (when enabled)

Setting Up GTM Integration

For Admin Users

If you have admin access to your Full Fabric instance:

  1. Navigate to General Settings in your Full Fabric dashboard

  2. Click on the Integrations tab

  3. Select Google Tag Manager

  4. Enter your GTM Container ID (format: GTM-XXXXXXX)

  5. Save the settings to activate tracking

For Non-Admin Users

Contact your Full Fabric support team at support@fullfabric.com and provide:

  • Your institution's GTM Container ID

  • Confirmation that you want GTM integration enabled

Important: Only the Full Fabric support team can enable GTM integration for non-admin users.

Where GTM is Injected

Once enabled, your GTM Container ID is automatically injected across all Full Fabric pages:

  • Application templates and forms

  • Portal pages

  • Form landing pages

  • Event landing pages

User Consent and Tracking

When Users Are Tracked

Users are tracked via GTM only when they accept cookies through your cookie policy:

  • Analytics cookies β†’ Enables basic tracking and analytics_storage consent

  • Advertising cookies β†’ Enables enhanced tracking with ad_storage, ad_user_data, and ad_personalization consent

  • All cookies β†’ Enables full tracking capabilities

Google Consent Mode v2 Compliance

Full Fabric automatically sends the appropriate consent types to GTM based on user cookie preferences:

When users accept Advertising cookies:

  • ad_storage

  • ad_user_data

  • ad_personalization

When users accept Analytics cookies:

  • analytics_storage

Your cookie policy must have Analytics and Advertising cookie types enabled to pass these consent types.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

GTM Not Firing on Full Fabric Pages

  • Verify your GTM Container ID is correctly entered (format: GTM-XXXXXXX)

  • Ensure your GTM container is published in Google Tag Manager

  • Check that cookie consent is properly configured

Missing Data in Google Analytics

  • Confirm your GTM triggers and tags are set up correctly

  • Verify your Google Analytics property is linked to GTM

  • Check that users are accepting the necessary cookie types

E-commerce Tracking Not Working

  • Ensure e-commerce tracking is enabled in your application template settings

  • Verify your GA4 e-commerce configuration matches the data structure

  • Check that Enhanced E-commerce is properly configured in Google Analytics

Important Limitations

  • Custom data fields: You cannot add custom fields to Full Fabric's GTM Data Layer

  • Support scope: Full Fabric support can only help with Container ID setup, not with GTM or GA configuration

  • Template level: E-commerce tracking is only available for institution-level application templates
