The European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) protects European Union data subjects' fundamental right to privacy and the protection of personal data. It introduces robust requirements that will raise and harmonize standards for data protection, security, and compliance.

As of May 25th, 2018, all organizations working with the data of EU citizens will need to be GDPR compliant. If you are a company outside the EU, you should still be aware of this. The provisions of the GDPR apply to any organization that processes personal data of individuals in the European Union regardless of whether the organization has a physical presence in the EU.
